Abstract


This community service program aimed to enhance students’ competencies in writing and publishing scientific articles through the implementation of a structured technical guidance program. The activity involved 50 students at Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Intan Lampung and was conducted using workshops, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), hands-on practice sessions, and article clinics. Evaluation was carried out using a pre-test and post-test design to measure participants’ improvement in understanding the IMRAD structure, abstract writing, reference management, publication ethics, and the submission process through the Open Journal System (OJS).
The results demonstrated an average score increase of 41.6% between the pre-test and post-test, indicating the program’s effectiveness in improving students’ publication literacy. The highest improvement was observed in reference management, while the lowest improvement was found in the OJS submission process. In terms of outputs, 90% of participants successfully produced complete article drafts in accordance with journal templates, and 64% were categorized as ready for submission with minor revisions. Participant satisfaction was rated very highly. The integration of workshops, FGDs, hands-on practice, and intensive mentoring proved effective in enhancing students’ competencies and publication readiness. This model can be recommended as a systematic strategy to foster a publication culture within higher education institutions.
