AbstractThis community service activity aimed to improve junior high school teachers’ competence in scientific writing. The background of this program was the low percentage of teachers who had experience in writing scientific papers, where only 30% had previously written academic work. The training involved 30 teachers from SMP Negeri 2 Pringsewu and was conducted through theoretical sessions, practical workshops, mentoring, and evaluation stages. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test instruments, observation, and participant feedback questionnaires. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding and writing skills, with an average increase of 40%. In addition, 83% of participants successfully completed draft scientific papers that met academic standards. The activity also increased teachers’ motivation to write, as indicated by 90% positive responses in the evaluation questionnaire. Therefore, scientific writing training combined with mentoring proved effective in strengthening teachers’ professional competence and promoting a culture of academic writing in schools.
